With the increasing sophistication of cybercrime and fraud, the importance of security and risk management of your payroll information is our top priority.
To better protect your sensitive information and ensure a secure user experience, we’re upgrading our payroll software setting to include enhanced login security measures, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and passkeys.
This change will go into effect between now and November of this year.
Why this is important:
Cybersecurity research shows that accounts without advanced protection are significantly more vulnerable. Recent studies indicate that the vast majority of data breaches could have been prevented with stronger authentication tools in place. These upgrades are designed to safeguard your sensitive payroll information against growing threats.
Traditional passwords and one-time codes are vulnerable to phishing and account takeovers. Passkeys offer stronger protection by using fingerprint, face scan, or device PIN – making login faster, safer, and tied directly to each employee’s device.
Passkeys and Authenticator Apps
Passkeys are cryptographic credentials stored on your device and can used with biometrics such as Face ID, a fingerprint or can be a device PIN. (Much like how we log into our phones or computers).
Passkey = Biometric (Face ID, Touch ID, etc.), Windows Hello, or security key
Authenticator Apps generate time-based one-time pass codes (TOTP) that are more secure than text or email codes.
Authenticator app = Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, etc.
